Carl J. Saalbach Iii

Carl J. Saalbach, III “Butch” passed away on December 15, 2025.

Born on April 9, 1945, in Massachusetts to Carl and Anne Saalbach. Raised in Collingdale, he attended First Baptist of Collingdale and was very active in his community.

He graduated from Eastern University in 1967. During this time, he developed a passion for other cultures and education, which led him to earn his doctorate in education from Temple. He worked as a professor of anthropology and sociology at Eastern College, Warner Southern University, and Northwest College. He also filled roles as a bi-vocational missionary and a church consultant.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Linda Trimberger, and a grandchild, Lucy Scheirer.

He is survived by his domestic partner, Sandy Whiting, four children: Gretchen Saalbach; Gwen (Saalbach) Scheirer married to Dave Scheirer; Ginger Saalbach; and Carl J. Saalbach IV, married to Marissa Saalbach; and four grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Campolo Center for Ministry or to the United Way of Bucks County.
