Charles Scott Pearson passed away on September 1, 2026, in Columbia, SC, after a brief illness with cancer.

Scott was born on February 7, 1959, to the late Tom Pearson and Ethel Pearson Walters. He was a house painter by trade, loved football and the Dallas Cowboys, no matter how bad they played. He lived in Tyler, Texas for 15 years, where he met and married the love of his life, Luz. It was the happiest 10 years of his life. Luz passed away in 2021 and Scott came back home to Winnsboro. He started his business, Colors By Scott, and painted homes and businesses in Winnsboro, Ridgeway, Columbia, Lake Monticello and Lake Wateree. 

Scott is survived by his daughter, Luz Malo of Mexico City, Mexico, Cheryl (Roger) Calcutt of Winnsboro, Steve Pearson of Winnsboro, Jimmy (Helen) Walters of Winnsboro, Tom (Becky) Walters of Columbia, niece Christel Chambers of Winnsboro, who took care of him until the end, niece Jessie Drew of Marion, nephew Steven Pearson of Effingham, and Patrick Pearson of Cincinnati, OH.

In addition to his parents and wife, Scott was predeceased by his stepfather, Olen Walters, and sister, Shiela West.

Scott will be dearly missed by his family and friends. A private ceremony will be held at Royal Pines Cemetery in Winnsboro. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
