Corinne Collins Cary

Corinne Collins Cary, 87, of Irmo, SC, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 3, 2026. 

Corinne had a zest for life and a love of people. She had an indomitable spirit and didn’t think there was anything she couldn’t do. When she grew tired of the look of her living room, she taught herself how to re-upholster furniture. Before long friends started bringing over pieces for her to change and a small business was born; no advertising, just word of mouth, but she always had more work than she could handle. Her gift of sewing was not limited to furniture. Corinne was a master seamstress. When her daughter wanted a wedding dress well above budget, she set out to make it. And it along with the six bridesmaids dresses also custom made by Corinne were perfect. 

After Bill retired, they moved to a new home and Corinne decided she wanted a retaining wall in the back yard. She watched masons bricking in the new homes in the neighborhood and decided she could do that, so she built the brick wall and steps going up the hill behind their house. 

Corinne had many passions; playing bridge and gardening were among her favorites. Bridge combined two of her great loves, games and socializing; and gardening, because she loved to make things beautiful. 

Corinne is survived by her husband of 66 years, her three children, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

 A Celebration of Life will be held at her home in Irmo, SC on August 22, 2026 at 4:00 pm.
