Douglas Alan Goodin

Douglas Alan Goodin, age 80 of North, SC passed away on April 3, 2026. Born on October 5, 1945 in Gainesville, FL, he attended Dewey High School, Dewey, OK. As a teenager, Douglas worked on the family’s ranch (breaking horses and branding steer). After his high school graduation, he attended Jones College, Jacksonville, FL.

A proud veteran, Douglas enlisted in United States Army in 1963.   During his service, he achieved the rank of Sergeant. Douglas served with distinction attending the Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) Academy in Germany, for his bravery and dedication, was awarded an Expert Infantry Badge, acknowledged as 1st place in his platoon and was an expert sharp shooter.

Following his honorable discharge in 1966, Douglas returned home and began a career with the New Hampshire State Police for twenty-eight (28) years; retiring in 1999. He was a member of the VFW/American Legion Post, Lions’ Club and the Republican Club of New Hampshire and remained committed to serving fellow veterans throughout his life.

Douglas was known for his commitment and dedication to living a life as a Christian man, always willing to lend “a helping hand”. He was active in the Fellowship Baptist Church, North, SC as a member for over thirty (30) years.  He served as a Deacon, Treasurer for twenty-five (25) years and fifteen (15) years as the sound director. He was a devoted husband for fifty-three years (53) who cherished time spent with his bride, especially holding hands.

Douglas is survived by his wife, Darlene (nee Swiezynski), children; James Kasprick (Gina), Leesville, FL; Patrick Kasprick (Nita), Bismark, ND;  Micheal Goodin (Suzanne), Kissimmee, Fl and Trevor Goodin, Danbury, PA and grandchildren; Danielle Iscaraqua (Jake); Autumn Kasprick; Korygan Goodin; Daegon Goodin and his brothers; Ed Goodin, Jasper Davies, John Goodin and Lee Goodin.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Audrey Goodin.

A Service of Remembrance with Full Military Honors will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Fellowship Baptist Church, 6822 North Rd., North, SC 29112. Family Visitation is 11:00 am – 12:00; Service begins at noon.  Burial will follow at church cemetery.
