Glenn Allan Barkoot

June 24, 1957 — May 8, 2026

Glenn Allen Barkoot, 68, of West Columbia, South Carolina, passed away on May 8, 2026. Born on June 24, 1957, in Columbia, South Carolina, Glenn was a man of simple joys, deep faith, and a heart that was always quietly looking out for everyone else.

Glenn grew up in the Columbia area and graduated from Irmo High School. He was the kind of man who didn’t need much to be happy. Give him a fishing rod, Labrasca’s Pizza with extra onions, and the people he loved, and he had everything he needed. In his younger years, he enjoyed teaching Karate at the Barkoot Karate School, and was a fifth degree black belt. He was a proud member of his church, where he played guitar in the band, pouring his love into every note. His church family at “His House” meant the world to him, and he was just as dear to them.

He is survived by his “Mama” Myrna, sister, Donna, brother, Eddie, daughters; Tara and Natalie, and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman, mother, Ida Faye, brothers; Brett and Brian, and nephew, David.

Glenn carried his Lebanese Heritage with pride. He loved Lebanese food, especially Kibbie, and every Christmas he would show up with big boxes of Baklawa that he was so proud of. If you knew Glenn, you knew those boxes were coming, and you looked forward to them every year.

He was generous in ways he never wanted attention for. For years, he quietly donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital because helping children was the thing to do. That was Glenn. He never wanted anyone to worry about him. Even as his health declined, he kept things to himself so the people he loved wouldn’t feel sad or burdened. He carried that weight on his own so others wouldn’t have to.

One thing his family will always smile about is his favorite Lebanese saying “Bous Teeze” which he liked so much he actually had it on his license plate. Everyone thought it was so funny and still brings a laugh today.

Glenn’s faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of his life, and his family takes comfort knowing he is now at peace and pain free in the arms of his Savior he loved and served so faithfully.

Details regarding services will be shared by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital would honor Glenn’s generous spirit. https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html?sl=donate-now&sc_dcm=137187318174&sc_cid=kwp&&&&&gclsrc=aw.ds&ds_rl=1291300&ds_rl=1285465&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=17681679263&gbraid=0AAAAADuyZN5G61nQfceYDYAOYxMvZ2PlL&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI9pryjtfNlAMV5TLUAR0o6TBfEAAYASABEgJ9qPD_BwE
