Michael Del Blitchington

Michael Del Blitchington, known affectionately by family and friends as "Toad," passed away on October 11, 2026, in Columbia, South Carolina. He was 72 years old.

Born on December 31, 1953, in Columbia, South Carolina, Michael was the son of the late Wise Marland Blitchington and Nellie Christine Lett Orr. He honorably served his country as a Specialist 4 (SP4) in the United States Army, completing active duty service with the Field Artillery branch in Germany and earning the National Defense Service Medal.

He is survived by his beloved dogs, Little Man and Maxwell, who were his family and whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by his sister, Christy Williams; his brother, William Orr Jr.; his many nieces and nephews and a close circle of extended family and lifelong friends who knew him simply as Toad. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his four beloved sisters, Betty Jo Morris, Emma "Peanut" Walta, Nancy Sansbury, and Mickie Blitchington.

Arrangements are being handled by the South Carolina Cremation Society of West Columbia. A military funeral service and graveside burial of his ashes will take place in the near future at Southland Memorial Gardens.
