Rebecca Wright Long (74), passed away at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, South Carolina on August 27, 2026. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Long; parents John D. Wright and Jessie Lane Wright. She is survived by sister and brother-in-law Debby and Skip Williams of Kingston, TN; Brother and sister-in-law Rusty and Cindy Wright of Kingston, TN; Nephew and wife Matthew Wright and Halie Blacker Wright; Niece and husband Sarah Wright Frye and Zach Frye; Great nieces Mattie Frye, Emery Frye and Ellie Wright; Brother’s-in law Mike Long and family and Eddie Long and Family of Batesburg Leesville, SC.
Becky was born in Roane County, Tennessee and developed a talent for playing the piano. During her junior high school years, she began to play the piano for the Wright Family Gospel Singers, which continued into her young adult life. She graduated from Roane County High School in 1970 and graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan College with her bachelor’s degree in Music Education in 1974. Becky also received certification in Special Education from the University of Tennessee. She spent the first years following college in Special Education in Tennessee.
Becky answered a call to work with music in the church and moved to Batesburg-Leesville, SC in the late 1970’s where she lived her adult life. She taught in Saluda Schools and St. Paul’s Christian School. She retired from Wabco-Union Switch and Signal as an Electrical Technician.
Becky was a charter member of Praise Church. She loved working in her church and dearly loved her church family.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 11:00 am at Praise Church, 4532 Pond Branch Road, Leesville, SC. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to Praise Church.
Interment will be on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., at Bradbury United Methodist Church Cemetery, 3506 Buttermilk Road, Kingston, TN 37763.
