Robert Dale Causby Sr.

June 10, 1953 — June 4, 2026

Robert Dale Causby, Sr. peacefully left this plane of earth on Thursday, June 4, 2026. He was surrounded by his family in his home in Pine Ridge, South Carolina.

Robert was known by many as “Joe” and by his family as “Bobby.” He was born on June 10, 1953, in Christiansburg, Virginia. He was the son of the late Joe David Causby, Jr., and of the late Jean Stanger Boone. He was happily married to his beloved wife, Lamona S. Causby, for 34 and a half years.

Joe grew up in Cayce, South Carolina with his three brothers (James, Tommy and Joseph) and two sisters (Donna and Becky). Coming from a large family, he was proud to have a large family in his adulthood. Joe had six children, fourteen grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. His children (Robert Dale Causby, Jr., Melinda Ann Jones, Amanda Louise Morris, Eva Marie Gaskins, Julia Christine Satterfield and Michele Leigh Mortenson) brought him immense pride and joy, but his grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him endless happiness and laughter. Joe had a way of lovingly pushing his children to achieve more and “do better” while still remaining aloof and energetic to play with his grandchildren.

Throughout his almost 73 years on earth, Joe held many roles and titles in the workforce. He drove trucks throughout the country, he managed trucks, and finally he was a superintendent for an asphalt and hazardous waste company when he finally retired. Joe was the definition of a hard-working family man. Joe was always looking for and taking opportunities that would benefit his family. When he wasn’t driving or supervising trucks he preferred to be grilling, watching NASCAR or westerns, or spending time with his family. Joe was also a sucker for a sweet treat, in any form. In his later years Joe went on many cruises with Lamona, where they discovered the beauty of the Caribbean, the joy of each other’s company, and the importance of quality time together.

Although Joe’s last few years were not the easiest, as he battled multiple pulmonary issues, he still found ways to spend time with his family and show how much they meant to him. He will be greatly missed but will never be forgotten by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date to be announced.
