Shirley Agnes (Klema) Krug

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Shirley Agnes (Klema) Krug, who left this world peacefully on September 24, 2026. Born on April 19, 1929, in the town of Kanopolis, Kansas, Shirley was the youngest child of John Alouis Klema and Agnes Stehno Klema. Her childhood was rooted in family, work, and the rural Kansas community which remained an important part of her story.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her devoted husband, Leo Gene Krug, with whom she shared 47 wonderful years of marriage, as well as her five brothers and two sisters.

Shirley's calling was in education, where she found great fulfillment in shaping young minds leaving a lasting impact on all those fortunate to learn from her.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, survived by her children, Mark Krug and Susan Newman (and husband Roy), who carry forward her lessons and values. Shirley was a proud grandmother to Michael Newman (and wife Danielle) and Krystal Burger (and husband Brian), and a beloved great-grandmother to Elaina, Riley, and Hailey.

As we bid farewell to Shirley, we remember her strong presence and how she often served as a gentle catalyst that drew everyone together ensuring that paths frequently crossed to share meaningful moments. These gatherings created cherished memories that remain deeply embedded in the hearts of those who loved her. We will forever appreciate the way she provided a consistent reason for our family to celebrate the joy of being united. May her soul rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved Gene and the family who went before her.

In lieu of flowers, the family of Shirley welcomes donations to be made to Cure Alzheimer's Fund.
