Tawana Dinkins Bonnett

Tawana Dinkins Bonnett , 71, of Pelion, South Carolina passed away Sunday, May 24, 2026 at her residence. She was born on November 16, 1954 in Columbia, South Carolina to Luther and Jesse (McPherson) Dinkins.

Tawana worked as the Director of the Senior Center in Pelion, SC for many years before retiring. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with “her seniors” and the coworkers that became lifelong friends.

Tawana is survived by her son, Toby (Julie) Smith, granddaughters, Emma and Rachel Smith and two grandsons, Rhett and Grant Smith, daughter-in-law, Amanda Bonnett and granddaughters, Patience and Layla Bonnett. She is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Maher and many nieces and nephews, along with a special friend and neighbor, Dale DeWitt.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rusty Bonnett, her son, Mack Bonnett, a grandson, Mack Bonnett, Jr. and a sister, Jean Derrick.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 29, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Florence Baptist Church, 1720 Windy Wood Rd, Pelion, SC 29123 with a memorial service following at 3:00 pm. Reverend Ben Taylor will officiate. Memorials may be made to Florence Baptist Church - PO Box 716, Pelion, SC 29123.
