Norman Dale Lavender passed away at his home at the age of 85 on May 23, 2026. He was born March 9, 1941 at his grandmother’s home in Little Rock, AK to Lonnie and Laura Lavender. He was an Army Veteran and served in the Korean War. After the military, he married Sylvia Ruth Barnett on June 22, 1961, and they moved to Springfield, OR in 1963 and built a wonderful life together. Norman worked as a pipe fitter millwright for Weyerhaeuser in Springfield and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. He was a great father to their 4 children and will be remembered for his strong character, generosity, and integrity. He is survived by his sister Edna Tompkins, his four children: Rick Lavender, Lonnie Lavender, Jeanie Rosenburg and Brenda Johnson, 8 grandchildren; Westley, Brehauna, Kaila, Jacob, Connor, Alex, Chantz & Hayley, 13 great grandchildren; Kendall, Destiny, Araya, Breyden, Athena, NiKlaus, Lilyanah, Bellamae, Apollo, Kailee, Braxton, Kimber & Harper and all his extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylivia Ruth Barnett-Lavender, his parents Lonnie Calvin Lavender & Laura Hazel Winningham -Lavender, his sister Elizabeth Ruth Lavender and his brother Tom Lee Lavender. A graveside service will be held for his family on June 11, 2026 at Springfield Memorial Gardens.
