Judy Darlene Dorton

Judy Darlene Dorton (Covington), age 87, of Winter Haven, Florida, passed away on June 24, 2026. Born on April 4,1939 in Flint, MI. Judy was the beloved daughter of Nolon and Juanita Covington, sister to Bill, Bob, Mona and Dennis. Judy was known by many names... Judi, Jude, Mother, Mom, Sis, and Mops. She worked as a teacher in Flint, MI and enjoyed her retirement in Winter Haven Florida. During retirement Judy enjoyed singing for the Haven Harmony, tutoring children in her community, puzzles, crafts, thrifting and facetimes with family all over the country! Judy attended Beymer United Methodist Church and always spoke highly of her church and church family. 

Judy is survived by children Kathy Gray, Carla McGrail (Harry) and Stephen Dorton. Grand children Brandon Sullivan, Alex Warren, Hunter, Annie, and Abby Gray. Great Grandchildren Kaitlyn, Amaiyrah, Gabe, Owen x2 Everest, Maddox, Elizabeth, Rugger, Monte, Charlette, Hendrex and Towne. She was preceded in death by husband Carl Dorton, who also had many names (Dad, Bud, and Pops) 

Those who knew Judy will remember her for her quick sense of humor, and love for her family and friends. Judy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Although we are sad, we take comfort that Judy knew where she was going and was looking forward to being reunited with her Husband Carl in Heaven.

A celebration of life will be held in the coming months.
