Katherine "Katy" Warndorf

Oct 18, 1942 — Sep 1, 2026

Katy was born October 18, 1942, to Frank and Wynona Kessel in Miami, Florida. She passed away on September 1, 2026surrounded by her loving family.

Katy graduated from Bishop Moore High School, St Theresa All Girls College, St. Leo University and Polk Community College where she earned a degree in nursing and graduated with high honors. Her name is memorialized on a plaque at the Winter Haven campus. She additionally had a career at State Farm and retired from there after 32 years.

Katy was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Tom, and together they shared 65 beautiful years filled with love, laughter, memories and devotion to one another. Katy will be remembered by so many of us for her love of cooking, entertaining, swimming, golfing, biking vacationing at the beach with her family, and praying the rosary. Out of her love of cooking, Katy created a cookbook of her recipes along with recipes from family and friends. She was a woman of tremendous Catholic faith, and an EMHC volunteer at St Matthews Catholic Church. Katy was a generous soul with a heart of gold, and someone who always had a smile to share and a kind word to offer. Katy's family and friends have lost a very special lady but can take comfort in knowing her faith carried her throughout her life and that now she is resting peacefully in the arms of Jesus.

Katy is survived by her husband Tom Warndorf, sister Patti Grubbs (Johnnie), son Michael Warndorf (Robin), daughter Jennifer Miller, grandchildren Douglas Robertson (Michaela) Brandon Warndorf, Maggie Miller, Megan Miller and great grandson Miles Robertson. She is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Wynona Kessel, grandson Joshua Miller and her sister Theresa Lund.

A viewing and funeral mass will be held Wednesday, September 16th, at St Matthews Catholic Church in Winter Haven. The viewing will be from 8:15 - 8:50 and the funeral mass will follow. A reception at Vienna Square Clubhouse at 1991 Overlook Drive, in Winter Haven will be held after the services.
