Franziska Anna Berther

Apr 9, 1948 — Oct 16, 2026

Franziska Anna Berther, 78, of Boise, passed away peacefully at home on October 16, 2026, with her children at her side.

Franziska was born April 9, 1948, in Reinprechtspölla, Austria, and grew up on her family's farm as one of 9 brothers and sisters. As a young woman, she left the farm to work in Zermatt, Switzerland, where she met her future husband, Paul. They married in 1972 and immigrated to the United States, landing in Olympic Valley, CA, and moving to Boise, ID, in 1978. She became a citizen of the United States of America on April 10, 1979, the same day as Paul.

Franziska lived a life of service, she owned and operated A Child's World, a childcare business in the Boise area, for more than 30 years. She cared for more children than anyone could count and treated every one of them like her own. She was always helping others and wanted to be needed, never needy.

Franziska loved her family deeply, and her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. She found joy in simple things, like time with her family, visits with close friends, knitting and crocheting, and the classical music that always filled her home, especially Mozart, Beethoven, and her favorite tenor, Pavarotti.

Franziska was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years and the love of her life, Paul, in 2018. She is survived by her children Matthias and Elvira, grandchildren Natasha, Sierra, Alainna, Angelina, Hudson, and Gunnar, a great-granddaughter (Eloise) on the way, and her family in Austria and Switzerland.

Franziska, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, we love you, admire you, appreciate you, and honor you. We treasure the time we had with you and will miss you dearly.

A rosary will be held Monday, November 9, 2026, at 10AM at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 6300 N. Meridian Rd. in Meridian, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11AM. She will be laid to rest beside Paul in a private family service.

The family would like to thank the team at Keystone Hospice, especially Tom, Erica, Josie and Chaplain Tim, for the care and comfort they gave Franziska and all of us.
