Jimmie Dale Hermosillo

Jimmie Dale "Hermie" Hermosillo, beloved father, grandfather, brother, friend, and proud Army veteran, passed away at his home in Boise, Idaho, on September 1, 2026. He was 74 years old.

Jimmie was born on March 3, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois, to Raymond and Adele Hermosillo, and attended high school at Angel Guardian Orphanage in Chicago. On July 22, 1971, at the age of 19, he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country, both stateside and in Frankfurt, Germany, earning an honorable discharge. He went on to attend Bismarck State College, Big Bend Community College, and Boise State University, and built a long career as a correctional officer before retiring in 2014.

Jimmie spent most of his adult life in St. Anthony, Idaho, where he raised his four children and built a life filled with family, friendships, laughter, and countless memories. In 2014, he moved to Boise to be closer to his family. To those who knew him, Jimmie was loving, funny, generous, and hardworking. He had an infectious laugh and a natural positivity that could brighten a room, and he was the kind of person who made people feel welcome and cared for.

Jimmie loved fishing, collecting and appreciating antiques, family game nights, and cheering on (and yelling at) his beloved Chicago Bears. He spent countless hours tending his garden, and anyone who visited was likely to leave with a jar of the famous salsa he made from it. But above all of his hobbies and interests, there was nothing he loved more than spending time with his family. His family always came first. He was a father who loved deeply, a grandfather who treasured his grandchildren, and a man whose greatest joy was simply being surrounded by the people he loved. His legacy lives on in the children and grandchildren he loved so dearly and in the many lives he touched throughout his years.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his four children: Daniel Hermosillo (Angela), Charleane Hermosillo (Zeke Smith), Alexandria Hermosillo, and Jace Hermosillo (Belle Gonzales); and his grandchildren, Valerie Hermosillo, Adyson Acedo, and Ethan Hermosillo.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the family home in Boise, Idaho, on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Family and friends are invited to come together to remember, honor, and celebrate the life of a man who meant so much to so many, and, in true Hermie fashion, to share a bowl of his famous salsa. A second Celebration of Life will be held in St. Anthony, Idaho, on November 8, 2026, giving additional family and friends the opportunity to gather and honor Jimmie's memory. The location and time will be announced at a later date.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
