Johnny Clayton Everett

Johnny Everett passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 16, 2025, surrounded by loved ones, following a full life devoted to family, country, service, golf, and faith.

Born in the backwoods of Harlan County, Kentucky, Johnny grew up a barefoot hillbilly, roaming the mountains, fishing, and picking wild fruit. He joined the U.S. Navy at 17 for three years, and later continued his service in the U.S. Air Force until retiring in 1973.

His military career took him and his family all over the world, with assignments in Wyoming, England, New Mexico, California, Thailand, Texas, Florida, Libya, Montana, Iceland, and New York.

Only seven days after meeting, Johnny secretly proposed to Betty Buffaloe, his forever sweetheart. They were married on June 16, 1955, in Pocatello, Idaho, and were sealed for eternity in the Boise Idaho Temple on May 5, 2007. He considered his 70-year marriage one of his greatest accomplishments.

After putting down roots in Boise, Idaho, Johnny founded Everett Heating & Air Conditioning in 1991 and served Treasure Valley businesses and residents for more than 20 years. He never hesitated to make house calls in the middle of the night to ensure families had heat, and continued to volunteer his time and expertise in HVAC throughout his life.

Johnny had a profound love for golf and played multiple times a week with his close friends, up until just days before his passing. His achievements on the course were many, including: 8x Eagle Hills Club Champion, 2x Eagle Hills Golfer of the Year, Mountain Home Air Force Base Club Champion, Super Senior Club Champion at Centennial Golf Course, Idaho Seniors Golf Association Champion and Super Senior Champion, along with tournament wins in Libya and Iceland.

Johnny was a family man who loved barbecuing, playing cards and chess, boating and fishing, taking RV road trips, pulling pranks, napping in his chair, and serving others in his church. His life was a true testament to the American dream, and he will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife and eternal companion, Betty Everett; his children Cindy Everett, Cheri Hubler, and Matt Everett; his grandchildren Amanda Redd, Randy Potts, Lexi Peterson, and Cameron Hubler; and his great-grandchildren Calvi Durieux-Redd, Ruby Redd, August Everett Redd, and Luke Peterson. He is also survived by his sister, Mona Jo Napier, and his faithful dog, Bodie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Stella Everett; stepfather Emmitt Napier; and siblings Gertrude Nolan, Mary Ruth Fields, Danny Everett, Joyce Blanton, Jerry Everett, and Emmitt Napier Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 11918 W. Ustick Rd, Boise, Idaho. A viewing will be held prior from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. A committal service with military honors will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery pavilion, 10100 N. Horseshoe Bend Rd, Boise, Idaho.
