Marla Bair
Dec 2, 1945 — Sep 3, 2026
Marla Jane Quist Bair passed away peacefully in Boise, Idaho from complications of a neurological disorder on September 3, 2026. She was born in Cut Bank, Montana on December 2, 1945. She is preceded in death by her father, John Quist, mother Helen Anderson Quist, and grandson Todd Bair. She is survived by her husband, Peter Bair, her daughters and their husbands Nancy and Eric Johnson and Andrea and Mark Stinson, her grandchildren Heidi Johnson, Anneliese Johnson, Connor Stinson, and Claire Stinson, and her five sisters and brothers Jeanie Marker, John Quist, Rob Quist, Janet Eney, and Aron Quist.
Marla was raised on a ranch north of Cut Bank and graduated from Montana State University with a degree in nursing. She was a Registered Nurse. She and Peter were married in Phoenix, Arizona on April 27, 1971. They lived in various locations including North Carolina, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Utah before settling in Boise in 1979. Peter’s work required them to occasionally relocate temporarily to overseas locations. Two of those assignments, Algeria and Colombia, were particularly challenging. Marla always was able to muster her unique combination of faith, courage, resourcefulness, and determination to overcome any obstacles she encountered.
Marla was a life-long Christian. She attended Cole Community, True Hope and Summit Churches and was active in Bible studies and service work until her health began to fail. Marla enjoyed helping others and was a dear friend to many.
