Robert Ernest Carlson

Robert Ernest Carlson, our beloved brother and uncle, passed away in Boise, Idaho on July

21. Rob was 65 years old and was struggling with a long-term illness. He passed with

family members at his bedside.

Rob was an important, special and integral part of our family and we are heartbroken. He

was so very loved by his family and friends. Rob lived in Kuna, Idaho for the last ten years

and loved it. He was raised in Redondo Beach, CA and enjoyed living most of his life by the

beach in the South Bay. He was very intelligent and had a remarkable mind. His education

included Redondo Union High School in Redondo Beach, CA and UCLA in Los Angeles, CA.

He excelled in Math, Engineering and the Sciences. He helped to tutor some of his siblings,

nieces and nephews, helping them achieve success in higher education. He had a mind that

remembered information once he read it or heard it. He was a kind, generous and thoughtful

man who loved his family deeply and will be so very missed.

Rob is survived by five siblings: Judy (Dan) MacMillan, Susan (Michael) Dlabal, Richard

(Wendy) Carlson, Carolyn (Pascal) Finkenbeiner, and Janet (Dan) Beck, and 11 nieces and

nephews: Chris (Stacy) and Danny (Dianna) MacMillan, Kristen, Rachel and Ricky Carlson,

Megan, Lauren (John), Mark (Katie) and Camryn Finkenbeiner, Daniel (Amanda) and Joanna

Beck.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Carlson, his father Gordon Carlson, and his

mother Ernestine Carlson.

Rob loved taking road trips and exploring. He had some wonderful adventures and was

always ready for the next one. He managed to travel to many areas in our country, and still

had plans to drive to Alaska and the Interior.

We love you, Rob. We miss you so very much. You left us too soon.

A memorial service for family and close friends will be held in Redondo Beach, CA on

September 27th.
