Tamara Ann Hatcher
Jul 13, 1964 — Oct 7, 2026
Tamara "Tammy" Ann Hatcher, 62, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2026.
Born on July 13, 1964, in Bisbee, Arizona, Tammy spent the early part of her childhood in Bisbee, Arizona before moving to Silver City, New Mexico. Her family spent time in Silver City and the Mangas Valley. She attended Cliff School, and throughout her young life, Tammy excelled at sports. She was also the absolute quintessential cowgirl, complete with her favorite Wrangler jeans, cowboy boots, classic belt buckle, and wouldn't think twice about having a chew of Copenhagen—a charmingly unusual habit for such a beautiful blonde-haired, blue-eyed girl.
After brief moves that took her family to Corpus Christi, Texas, they eventually settled in Las Cruces, New Mexico. While attending Mayfield High School, Tammy continued to excel in sports and was an active member of the ROTC program. She graduated from Mayfield High School in 1982. Driven by a desire to serve others, she enlisted in the United States Army shortly after graduation, earning her place as a U.S. Army Combat Medic. Her military service took her to duty stations including Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and Fort Polk, Louisiana, where she served with dedication and distinction.
Following her honorable discharge from the Army, Tammy set out for California, where she lived for a significant portion of her life. It was during these years that she welcomed her two sons, Thomas Bruce Cooper III and George Alexander Adcock. Thomas and George were the absolute pride and joy of her life, and her love for them remained central to everything she did.
Although Tammy faced her share of life’s hardships and difficult times, she found true comfort, strength, and continuous purpose through her deep connection with the Veterans Affairs community and her fellow veteran brothers and sisters. Her consistent, personal relationship with the VA and the people there was central to her life and well-being. Tammy gave just as much to the VA community as she received, offering support, warmth, and understanding to everyone she encountered. The bonds she forged within that community meant the world to her, and she spoke of them with immense gratitude and love.
Tammy was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Georgiann Adcock.
She is survived by her father, Ralph George Adcock; her two cherished sons, Thomas Bruce Cooper III and George Alexander Adcock; her brothers, David Wayne Adcock and George Travis Adcock; her sister, Susan Katherine Adcock; as well as extended family members and her military brotherhood and sisterhood.
