Alan H. Widder

May 18, 1937 – June 21, 2026

On June 21, 2026, at the age of 89, Alan H. Widder of Sun City Center, Florida, peacefully closed his eyes on this earthly life and opened them in the glorious presence of his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. His faith became sight as he entered his eternal home in heaven, surrounded by the love and grace of the One he faithfully served.

Alan Widder was born on May 18, 1937, into a hardworking farming family, the son of Marie and Hugo Widder. One of five children, Alan spent his early years attending Lincoln Erdman Grade School and later graduated from Central in 1955. While school may not have been his favorite pastime, milking cows ranked even lower, so college seemed like a pretty good next step. He went on to attend Northwestern College in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biblical Studies.

On June 18, 1960, he married Pearl Goldmann at Immanuel Congregation Church in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. The couple lived in Minnesota for eight years, where they welcomed two sons, Steven and Brent. They later returned to Sheboygan, where Alan founded Falls Monument Company in Sheboygan Falls in 1966. Where he served those who lost loved one by installing and engraving tombstones. He owned and operated the business for 40 years.

Alan was an active member of several churches throughout his life, serving as an elder for many years in a number of congregations. He was also dedicated to youth ministry, serving as a leader in Boys’ Brigade and Awana.

Alan enjoyed playing basketball throughout most of his life, including during his college years. He also had a deep passion for the outdoors and especially loved hunting and fishing. Once his sons were old enough to fish, he bought a boat and spent as many summer mornings as possible fishing on Lake Michigan with them, continuing the tradition until they graduated from high school and left for college. The family also made memorable fishing trips to Canada over the years.

When fishing season ended, Alan eagerly turned his attention to fall hunting, with deer season being his favorite. He taught Pearl and both of his sons how to deer hunt, and each year they looked forward to gathering at the log cabin he built in northern Wisconsin. Those hunting trips became a cherished family tradition and a special time together. Following his move to Florida, Al developed a passion for lawn bowling and enjoyed every opportunity to play.

Alan is survived by his loving wife of sixty-six years, Pearl; his children, Steven (Colleen) Widder, Brent (Lisa) Widder, his brother, Keith (Agnes) Widder; his grandchildren, Connor (Karissa) Widder, Hailey (Matthew) Mongomery, Taylor (Cade) Chitty; and his great-grandchildren, Wolf, Kieran, Aidan and David. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hugo and Marie Widder, and brothers Ronald, Robert and Richard, and great-granddaughter Kennedy Claire.

A service celebrating the life of Alan H. Widder will be held on July 24, 2026, at Trinity Baptist Church in Sun City at 11:00 am, at 702 West Del Webb Blvd, Sun City Center, Florida. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
