Gilberte “Gil” Karas, 88, of Bradenton, Florida, passed away on October 19, 2026. She was born on July 6, 1938, in Madawaska, Maine, and lived a life marked by faith, love, and thoughtfulness.

Gil was known to those around her as a steady and caring presence, someone who met life with grace and quiet strength. Those who knew her best will remember her as a woman whose kindness extended easily to family, friends, and all who crossed her path. Her life reflected the values she held dear, and she carried herself with dignity and compassion in every season.

She worked as a Lead Lady in textile manufacturing, where she earned respect through dedication, leadership, and a strong work ethic. Her professional life was defined by responsibility and commitment, and she was the kind of person others could count on. She brought the same dependable spirit to her home and family, where her influence was felt most deeply.

Outside of work, Gil found joy in the simple and meaningful pleasures of life. She loved cooking, and her meals were a reflection of the care she gave so freely to others. She also enjoyed crocheting, a pastime that spoke to her patience, creativity, and attention to detail. These interests were more than hobbies. They were part of the warm and nurturing way she lived each day.

Family was central to Gil’s life, and she leaves behind a large and loving family who will cherish her memory. She is survived by her brother, Fernand Clavette of Connecticut; her sisters, Therese Berube of Canada and Rita Dionne of Maine; her sons, Phil Dufour of Connecticut and Eddie Dufour of Florida; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Her family tree reflects the deep roots she planted through a lifetime of love and devotion.

She was preceded in death her loving husband George Karas Jr, by her parents, Rene and Irene Clavette. She was also preceded by her four brothers, Clifford Clavette, Alphie Clavette, Richard Clavette, and Lionel Clavette; her four sisters, Jeannette Morin, Germaine Tibbetts, Omerine Dionne, and Jeanne Stymiest; her son, Clifford Dufour Jr.; and her daughter-in-law, Susan Dufour. Their memories remain part of the family story she helped shape.

Gil’s life was one of enduring faith and quiet generosity. She leaves behind a legacy that will be remembered not only in the names of her children and descendants, but also in the values she passed on through example. Her loving nature, thoughtful spirit, and unwavering faith will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

As family and friends remember Gil, they will recall a woman who gave much of herself to others and did so with humility and warmth. Her life was a testament to devotion, resilience, and love. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
