Harrington, Glenn (Swede), 78, of Wimauma, Florida passed away at a Rehabilitation facility in Brandon, Florida after a long battle with COPD and emphysema. Born in Madison, Wisconsin, he lived in many different states during his lifetime before settling here in Florida.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, George and Phyllis Harrington; and sister Patricia. Swede is survived by his wife, Barbara of 21 years; daughters, Genifer Blake and Sandi (Bob) Gillen; son, Aaron Harrington and step-son, Tim (Nicole) Smoyer; “adopted” son, Paycer (Grace) Tester; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Swede had a loving heart for animals and children, they were the center of his world. He loved to relax while either fishing or building model ships. After retiring, his love turned to traveling the country with his beloved wife.
His unconditional love and strange sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew him.
Glenn’s Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026 with a Visitation at 10:30 a.m. and a Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Ruskin, 820 College Avenue West, Ruskin, Florida 33570.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to the COPD foundation online or the Alzheimer’s Association - Florida Gulf Coast Chapter: (1-800-272-3900) would be greatly appreciated by the family.
