Maurice Killian Allgeier Jr

Sergeant Major Maurice Killian Allgeier Jr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and proud veteran, passed away on March 17, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of service, faith, and love.

Maurice was born on October 14, 1946, to McConal Hickerson and Maurice Killian Allgeier Sr. in Louisville, Kentucky. He attended Saint Elizabeth Catholic grade school and graduated from Saint Xavier High School. He continued his education at the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville, later earning his bachelor’s degree from Columbia College.

On June 13, 1970, Maurice married the love of his life, Mary Denise Fickentsher. Together they built a beautiful family and were blessed with three children: daughters Dawn Smith (Kirt) and Lavina Myers (Joey), and son Maurice Killian Allgeier III (Jennifer). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Kennedy, Noah, Alec, Madison, Killian, and Nathan.

Maurice honorably served his country in the United States Army, entering active duty on December 20, 1965, and retiring on September 30, 1997, as a Sergeant Major. Following his military career, he worked with the U.S. Census Bureau and the United States Postal Service.

He was an active member of American Legion Post 201 and a man deeply rooted in his faith. Maurice generously gave his time teaching religious education at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Mount Washington, KY, from 1995 to 2015 alongside his wife.

Maurice was known for his warm spirit and welcoming nature—he never met a stranger. His storytelling and contagious laughter brought joy to all who knew him. Above all, he cherished time spent with family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 12, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Locust Creek Clubhouse, Fisherville, KY 40023. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, April 13 at 10:00 AM at Saint Gabriel Catholic Church, 5500 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY, followed by a military burial at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in  Radcliff, KY.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital .
