Ted Simpson

Ted Simpson, age 93, passed away on June 26, 2026 in Sun City Center, Florida.

Born on October 25, 1932, in Lincoln County, Kentucky, Ted was the son of Alza and Clarence Simpson.

Ted was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Phyllis Mercer Simpson; his twin brother, Fred Simpson; and his parents, Alza and Clarence Simpson.

He is survived by his sister, Wanda Tucker; his daughters, Annettia Simpson and Kathy (Bill) Berry; his grandsons, Billy Katzenbach, Brian Katzenbach, Alan (Cortney) Berry, and Brian (Sallie) Berry; and his great-grandchildren, Capt. Austin (Greeshma) O'Quinn, Clarissa Katzenbach, Casey Katzenbach and Jason Katzenbach,. He also leaves behind extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

Ted proudly served his country in the United States Navy before beginning a long career as a property appraiser, mainly in Ohio. Upon retirement, he and Phyllis moved to Florida where many family memories were made golfing, crabbing, going to the beach and enjoying the Florida lifestyle. An avid golfer, Ted instilled the love of the game in his grandsons.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Sun City Center Funeral Home on Thursday, July 9, 2026.
