Bernard "Bernie" Flanagan
June 11, 1944 — May 11, 2026
Bernard "Bernie" Flanagan passed away peacefully on May 11" 2026, at home. Bernie was born in New York City in 1944. He graduated from Iona College after which he entered the US army. He met the love of his life, Geri, whom he married and happily spent the next fifty-nine years. Bernie and Geri resided in Katonah, NY for twenty - seven years. While living there, he worked in the telecommunications industry.
Upon retiring they moved to Hilton Head where they built their dream home in Sea Pines. Together they shared a lifetime of memories filled with laughter, challenges and devotion. His strength, kindness and gentle heart were a blessing to everyone who was fortunate to know him.
He found joy in his woodworking, family gatherings, jokes, travel and photography. His memory will forever live in the lives of those who loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife Geri and his brothers, Tom (Addie), Jim (Paddy), Bill and his sister Clare. Bernie was preceded in death by his brother Robby.
There will be a wake at the Island Funeral Home on Monday, May 18" 2026 from 10am until 12pm. This will be followed by a grave site service at Six Oak in Sea Pines.
