Howard and the widow of Donald Louis Grove to whom she was married for 48 years, died
May 14th, 2026 on her beloved Hilton Head Island.
Eileen graduated from Connellsville High School with the class of 1950 and the Stenotype
Institute of Pittsburgh. She was an executive secretary for the Aluminum Company of
America and Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation in Pittsburgh, and Martin Marietta
Corporation in Orlando, Florida. After moving to Hilton Head Island, she was an office

Raised in the Baptist faith, Eileen had a strong faith in her Savior Jesus Christ. She attended
Christ Lutheran Church on HHI where she was a lector.
She was an avid reader, crossword and Sudoku solver, loved the beach and never failed to
collect some small treasures each time she went. She loved all the birds that came to her
feeders and the deer were welcome to her flowers. She enjoyed her many friends at water
aerobics at Spring Lake in Hilton Head Plantation and the Island Rec Center.
Don & Eileen were married May 22, 1965 and shared many years of happiness until his
passing in 2012. They began vacationing in Hilton Head Island in 1977 following her year of
chemotherapy for breast cancer. She was a 50-year survivor. They followed their dream
and moved to the Island permanently in 1990.
Surviving are her son Paul Andew Grove of Plover, Wisconsin, sister Emmalee Dieter
(David) of Connellsville, Pa, several nieces and nephews including Kirk & Kay Carver, of The
Villages, Florida, three great nephews and one great niece.
In addition to her parents and her husband she was predeceased by an infant sister, Muriel
Ann Howard, and sister-in-laws Janice Grove Krizov and Nancy Grove Volk.
