Harold "Glenn" Neff

Harold “Glenn” Neff, of Hilton Head, South Carolina, was born on January 25,1934 in Los Angeles, California, and went to be with his Lord and Savior in heaven on September 2, 2025.  He was 91 and had been suffering from the effects of bladder cancer for over 9 months.

After growing up in Southern California, Glenn started his college years at Pasadena City College in 1952 where he became the President of the local Christian organization known as Campus Crusade for Christ. He transferred to UCLA in 1953 and was then drafted into the Army during the Korean War. Glenn was stationed in Mannheim, Germany where he served and taught Army Officers about meteorology.  On his return, he married Mary Britton in August 1956 and moved to Oakland California to continue his college studies. Glenn graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.

Glenn and Mary raised two children, Stephanie Ann (Shoquist), now living in Gilroy, California, and William Glenn Neff now living in Bellevue, Washington. 

Glenn started his career with Owens Illinois, and then the George A. Fuller Company but later found his real career and interests lay in sales and marketing where he spent the remainder of his working life with a number of different companies, including IBM and Xerox. In 1984 he married Linda (nee Morris), and they created Marketing Connections Corporation, a company in which they worked together until it was sold in 2008. 

Glenn and Linda moved to Hilton Head in 2002. Glenn was a passionate Christian who began every day in people, known and unknown to him.  He left a mark on everyone who knew him.  No matter where he lived, he took an active role in the church. He prayerful devotions, remembering and blessing many served as an Elder, Deacon, Mission committee chair, sang in the choir, helped create and run an ethics symposium for college students, attended bible study groups, and started the now famous Backpack Buddies food program to feed hungry children. For over 17 years he served as a chaplain and manager of the chaplain programs at Hilton Head and Coastal Carolina hospitals.  He had a big heart and had a gift to comfort those who needed it.  His kindness to all who came in contact with him was palpable.  He was admired, respected, inspiring, and honored by anyone who knew him, and many will miss him greatly.   His love for his wife, Linda, with whom he was married for 41 years, radiated and he was rarely seen without her at his side.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Linda, brother, Paul and wife Kathy, daughter Stephanie and husband Dave, son William and wife HyAnne, twin grandchildren Tyler and Alexis, and numerous nieces and nephews.   He was predeceased by his older brother Donald.  

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, October 25th at 2pm at the First Presbyterian Church on Hilton Head Island.  In lieu of flowers, please send memorial tributes to Island Chaplain and Friends, c/o Hilton Head Hospital, 25 Hospital Center Boulevard, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926   Attention Rev.
