Jacquelyn Anne Sprauer

Jacquelyn Anne Sprauer passed away peacefully on Hilton Head Island on 8/30/26 after a long battle with Parkinson’s. She was 88 years old.

Jacki was born to John and Evelyn (Koury) Prendergast on 4/29/38 in Troy, NY. She attended Catholic school throughout her childhood and spent summers at camp with her sister on some of the most beautiful lakes in upstate NY. Jacki was a great swimmer and diver as a child, and was always interested in fashion, interiors, and merchandising.

After graduating high school in 1956, she went on to study and earn an associate’s degree in merchandising at Mohawk Valley Tech in 1958. Jacki was very involved in various clubs and her sorority. It was during this time at college that she met and began dating the love of her life, Louis Sprauer. Over the next few years, Jacki worked as an assistant buyer at large department stores in Rochester, NY until the two married at the end of 1960.

They soon relocated to Long Island, NY where Lou had grown up, & they began their family. Jacki & Lou had 3 children in the 1960’s, eventually settling for many years in the small historic town of Basking Ridge, NJ where they raised their kids.

Jacki was a classy gal who always dressed fashionably & took good care of herself & her family. Health & wellness were a focus before this was popular. She was a fantastic tennis player and encouraged her children to play while they were growing up. She loved the theater, musicals, classic movies, & was an avid reader. Weekly trips to the library with Lou were common. As her children got a bit older, Jacki started working in the children’s department at a beautiful store in Morristown, NJ called Epstein’s, where she was a loyal employee for 25 years.

Throughout the 80’s & 90’s, Jacki & Lou took the family on numerous trips to Hilton Head Island, SC which has always been a special place to the family.

Jacki & Lou were married almost 64 years at the time of his passing. They were a wonderful example to all of what a marriage should be. Jacki ‘s family was everything to her, and she leaves behind her 3 children; Kory Sprauer Turner of Richardson, TX; Keith Sprauer of Exton, PA, and Scott (Michele) Sprauer of Hermosa Beach, CA. Her 5 grandchildren brought her such joy, and she loved them dearly; Kyle (Avery) Turner, Jacquelyn Turner, Benjamin, Lukas, & Natalya Sprauer. She is survived by her sister Patricia (James) Canfield, brother John Prendergast, & many nieces, nephews, & extended family who meant so much to her.

Jacki saw the good in all and had the kindest heart. She had a quick wit and kept everyone around her entertained, right til the end. She never complained and always had a positive, optimistic outlook regardless of challenges she faced. She will be greatly missed.
