Patricia Hair Shelburne passed away peacefully June 10, 2026. She was 96 years old and a 40+ year resident of Hilton Head, SC. She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth S Fisher (John) of Greensboro, NC and Anne Shelburne Newell (Sandy) of Statesboro, GA. Also, four grandchildren: Meredith Ream (Josh) of Atlanta, GA, Bradley Newell of Statesboro, GA, James Fisher (Heather) of Pescadero, CA and Parker Newell (Olivia) of Tybee Island, GA and a great grandson John Paul Ream of Atlanta, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Tilton Shelburne of Hilton Head, SC, parents Dr. and Mrs. Pickney Belton Hair of Spartanburg, SC and her sister, Harriet Inez Hair of Hilton Head, SC.

Pat was born and raised in Spartanburg, SC and lived in Greenville SC for 17 years before moving to Hilton Head in 1985. She earned her BA in chemistry from Converse College and attended UNC Chapel Hill for her master’s in chemistry. Pat proudly worked as a field director for the Girl Scouts of the USA after college.

She lived life to the fullest for all of her 96 years and exemplified the meaning of a true southern woman. She loved people and held family and friends close to her heart. She never met a stranger.

Pat was a charter member of Providence Presbyterian Church. While at Providence, she served as president of the women’s association, as an elder, a trustee, Bible teacher, hand bell ringer, kinder choir director, member of the Mary Martha Circle, the decorating committee and was a 35+ year member of the Chancel Choir. She was also a member of the Symphony Guild in Greenville, SC and supported the symphony here on Hilton Head Island. While on Hilton Head she was a proud, active member and past president of the PEO Chapter V.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, 11:00am at Providence Presbyterian Church with a reception to follow the service. The burial will be at Six Oaks in Sea Pines at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat’s memory may be made to Providence Presbyterian Church.
