Sally Lloyd Steedman

d. Jun 21, 2026

Sally Lloyd Steedman, a loving wife, mother, sister, stepmother, friend, artist, and photographer, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. She was 91.

Born on September 8, 1934, Sally was the daughter of Joseph Halard Goodworth and Elizabeth L. McClung. She grew up in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, where she developed the curiosity, creativity, and warmth that would remain hallmarks of her life.

Sally earned a degree from the Allegheny School of Nursing in 1955 and received her flight attendant certificate from Eastern Air Lines that same year. She later studied at the New York School of Interior Design, graduating in 1960. Her first marriage was to professional photographer Harvey Lloyd on Feb 13, 1960. Through her extensive travels with Harvey, she discovered a deep passion for art and photography. In 1976, she became Director of Photography for The Image Bank, the largest stock photography agency in the world at that time.

By 1981, Sally and her future husband, Richard Steedman, along with two of Richard's fellow photographers, founded their own company called The Stock Market Photo Agency. Over the next two decades, Sally played a huge role in the company's growth and became one of New York's leading photo editors. She took immense pride in watching The Stock Market flourish into the largest independently owned stock photo agency in the world. At its apex, The Stock Market employed over

175 individuals at its corporate headquarters in New York City and owned four regional offices in Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, and Portland as well as international offices in London, Paris, and Dusseldorf. In addition, the photography was licensed through 35 international affiliates throughout six continents. In 2000, the company was sold to Corbis, a photo agency owned by Bill Gates.

Shortly thereafter, Sally and Richard retired to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and were married in Las Vegas on Oct 18, 2001. Their retirement became a new chapter filled with adventure, creativity, and discovery. Together they traveled the world, photographing the places and experiences they shared with family and friends. Along the way, they collected treasures that reflected their journeys and proudly displayed them in their home.

Sally was also known for her extraordinary hospitality. She loved bringing people together and was especially well-known among friends and neighbors for hosting extravagant, imaginative, and memorable parties. Her generosity, creativity, and genuine interest in others made everyone around her feel welcome.

Richard preceded Sally in death in 2022. Sally is survived by her only son, Andrei Lloyd; her sister, Jane Seaburn; her brother, John Goodworth and her stepdaughter, Alexandra Steedman. She leaves behind a family and a wide circle of friends who will remember her for her loving, generous, and caring spirit.

Sally lived a rich, remarkable life shaped by family, friendship, creativity, travel, and a lasting appreciation for beauty. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
