Thomas "Tom" James Foley

Thomas “Tom” James Foley died peacefully in his home on September 12th, 2026 on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. He was 79 years of age.

Tom was born on October 28th, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA to his parents Thomas and Marie Foley. He attended Bishop McDevitt High School and graduated in 1964. He graduated from St. Joseph’s University in 1969 with a degree in Food Marketing. He received his CPCU, an equivalent to a master’s degree in insurance sales, by the Institutes in 1975. Tom served in the Army National Guard. He married Irene (Babij) in 1971 in Philadelphia, PA. They resided in Pottstown, PA for 28 years where Tom was a partner at the insurance agency Evans, Hauseman, & Richard. Tom retired in 2006 and he and Irene happily retired to their paradise, Hilton Head Island, SC.

Tom ardently believed in giving back to the community he lived in. While in Pottstown, he was the President of the Library Board, served on the Water and Sewer Authority, and was an active member of both AMBUCS and the Building Industries Exchange.

Tom was an avid golfer. He was a member for many years of Brookside Country Club in Pottstown, PA. During his early years on Hilton Head, he was a member of Bear Creek Golf Club where he was chair of the Greens Committee on the Board of Directors. He was also a member of the Colleton River Club.

Tom is survived by his wife, Irene; his daughter and son-in-law, Kristin Foley and Derek Slosser of Winter Park, Florida, and their children, Jack and Ava Slosser; and his daughter and son-in-law Andrea and Rob Sinnamon, and their children, Colten, Samuel and Evelyn. He is survived by his brother, Paul Foley, and his sister, Elizabeth Rowland. He is reunited in death with his parents and his sister, Sr. Suzanne Foley, RGS.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Monday, October 12th 2026 at St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church, 45 Beach City Road, Hilton Head, Island, SC 29926. A luncheon will be provided directly afterwards at Il Carpaccio, and all are invited to attend. A celebration of life will be held in Paoli, PA on March 6th, with details to follow. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to  St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
