Cliff Matney

Apr 13, 1954 — Sep 1, 2026

Cliff Matney was born in Grundy, Virginia on April 13, 1954. He and his family moved to Gridley, California when he was five years old and then his favorite sister was born.

Two years later, the family moved to Durham, California and lived there until all 5 children had completed their high school education. Cliff later moved to Chico, California where he worked in various industries. Cliff graduated from Heald Business College and finished his professional career working with computers, and he was such a natural!

After leaving Chico, Cliff moved to Ocean Shores, Washington for about a year. Then he decided to join three of his sisters in Southern California and moved to Hemet, California.

Cliff spent the last 5 years of his life surrounded by his loving family. We all spent many weekends, holidays, and vacations together. The last two years of his life, he spent with the true love of his life when he adopted Missy, a beautiful, sweet Maltipoo.

One of the kindest acts he ever did was when our mother needed assistance during the last of her years, he became her caregiver.

We lost Cliff the morning of September 1st. Cliff had heart issues for the last 25 years of his life and we felt each day we had with him was a gift. He is survived by four sisters – Jackie Matney Sudicky, Diana Matney Casteel, Pat Rogers, and Edith Rogers. Two nephews and one niece – Gary Casteel, Brian (Amanda) Sudicky, and Stacy (Sean) Sudicky Green. One great nephew and two great nieces – Bash Sudicky, Tommi Sudicky, and Greta Green. And of course, Missy.

We find comfort in knowing that Cliff is now with our Mom, Millie, loving all of our memories.
