Kimberly Rochelle McKinley
Aug 15, 1968 — Oct 7, 2026
It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Kimberly Rochelle McKinley, who left this world while at home on October 7, 2026, after a courageous 10-year battle with breast cancer. Born on August 15, 1968, in Fullerton, California, Kimberly made her presence known in this world with her boundless energy and curiosity.
Kimberly was the only daughter of John (deceased) and Sheila Norris of Fullerton. She married Tim McKinley on January 8, 2011, at Mariners Church in Irvine, a day that began an adventurous journey together.
A nurturing and devoted mother, Kim's love for her son, Connor, was limitless. She had a particularly tender heart for him, always providing guidance and support with meticulous care. Her family was primary, and she dedicated herself to making their house in Kenai and then Anchorage a home.
Kim pursued her education with determination, waitressing long hours while attending Biola University and then Cal State University, Fullerton, where she earned a degree in Human Resources. Her career as a Human Resources consultant was marked by her expertise in implementing HR software solutions, which she successfully installed in various corporate systems in California and at a hospital in Alaska. Her colleagues admired her for her attention to detail and work ethic.
A woman of faith, Kim committed her life to Jesus at a young age thru Grace Bible Chapel in Fullerton. Kim had fond memories of Verdugo Pines Bible Camp, where she spent part of every year of her youth as a camper, and later as a counselor. Kim was always active in women's ministries wherever she resided.
Kim's interests were as diverse as they were passionate. She was a Disney kid, and enjoyed inflicting that on her family. Before her declining health affected her mobility, she was an avid hiker and cross country runner around her home in Estes Park. She was proud to say that she beat the boys up Half Dome in Yosemite, and climbed & descended Mt. Whitney in one day, solo. Kim found immense joy in quilting, creating beautiful pieces that will remain as cherished memories for her family and friends. After moving to Alaska, she enjoyed the Blue Angels & Thunderbird airshows, and loved traveling to warm places that had ziplining, snorkeling, & good restaurants. Kim also enjoyed the simple pleasures of watching movies at a theatre with her family and a diet coke, and was an avid fan of the Hallmark Channel.
In addition to her husband, Tim, and son, Connor, Kimberly is survived by her mother, Sheila, and her brother, Shawn, who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. She will be greatly missed.
