In Loving Memory of Elizabeth Jane (Evanoika) Brooks, 81, who passed away July 23, 2019 in Calhan, Colorado after a long battle with Alzheimer's.She was born November 16, 1937 to the late Steve and Anna (Eurich) Evanoika in Ramah, Colorado.Elizabeth grew up on the family farm near Ramah with her five brothers. While living in Colorado Springs working as a bank teller, she met Theo Ray Brooks. They married September 22, 1958 and have shared the last sixty years together. Elizabeth became a military wife and traveled the United States and overseas.Always a hard worker, she held numerous jobs throughout her life. Elizabeth was the owner of Brooks Cafe in Peyton, Colorado. She was a wonderful cook; people would come from all over to get her amazing homemade cinnamon rolls and homemade meals. Elizabeth also loved to sew and was an extremely talented seamstress. She would spend hours on her sewing machines making western shirts, blouses, doll clothes and countless other items.Many of her children's friends often called her mom, she never knew a stranger and was willing to start a conversation with anyone. She loved to laugh and have fun.She is preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Anna Evanoika; and four of her brothers, John, Steve, George and Ted Evanoika. Elizabeth is survived by her husband of sixty years, Theo Ray Brooks; their three children, Patricia "Patti" (Myron) Stroup of Arizona, Glyenda (Doug) Gillis of Peyton, Colorado, and Claude A. (Lisa) Brooks of Peyton; eight grandchildren, Billy, Doug Jr., Tommy, Sarah, Theo, Breanna, Seth and Cody; four great-grandchildren, Gage, James, Shelby and Brealey; her brother, David (Peggy) Evanoika of Montrose, Colorado; sisters-in-law, Lottie, Rita, Betty and Carole Evanoika; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.Service, 10:00AM, Monday, July 29, 2019, Sproch Cemetery, 21826 County Road 101 (County Road 101 & County Road 90), Ramah, Colorado 80832.Contribution in Elizabeth's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America at www.alzfdn.org
