Francis Xavier Tien Quang Huynh
June 11, 1937 – October 3, 2026
With faith in the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, the family of Francis Xavier Tien Quang Huynh announces that he entered eternal life on October 3, 2026, at the age of 89.
After a life marked by unwavering faith, sacrifice, and love, Tien was called home to the Lord and joyfully reunited with his beloved wife, Mary Joseph Bach Tuyet Nguyen, and his two cherished sons who preceded him in death.
Born on June 11, 1937, in Gia Dinh Province, Vietnam, Tien was the eldest son in a large family. From an early age, he embraced the responsibilities of caring for others. As a devoted son and loving brother, he became a constant source of guidance, strength, and support to his family throughout his life.
Tien graduated from the prestigious Vietnam National Military Academy in Da Lat, Class 13, and served with honor as an officer in the Engineering Corps of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam. He was respected for his leadership, integrity, and genuine concern for those under his command. To many, he was not only a commander but also a mentor, protector, and trusted friend.
While still in high school, he met the love of his life, Bach Tuyet. Their friendship blossomed into a lifelong partnership rooted in faith, devotion, and enduring love.
Married in 1961, they shared sixty-five blessed years together. Through the joys of family life, the hardships of war, years of separation, political persecution, and the challenge of building a new future, they remained steadfast companions. Their marriage stood as a beautiful witness to faithfulness, sacrifice, and unconditional love, inspiring all who knew them.
Together they were blessed with seven children. Tien was a devoted husband, loving father, and dedicated provider who worked tirelessly for the well-being of his family. Through his example, he taught the values of faith, integrity, humility, perseverance, and service. His wisdom and quiet strength continue to guide those he loved.
Following the fall of South Vietnam in 1975, Tien endured nearly eighteen years in communist reeducation camps. Despite profound hardship and separation from his family, he never lost his faith, dignity, or hope. His perseverance and resilience remain a lasting testament to the strength of his character.
Those who knew Tien will remember a man of deep faith, gentle humility, and unwavering love. He welcomed others with kindness, offered encouragement without hesitation, and made people
feel valued and cared for. Whether as a husband, father, brother, mentor, godfather, or friend, he touched countless lives through his generosity and compassion.
Tien was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Joseph Bach Tuyet Nguyen, who passed away in March 2026, and by his beloved sons, Quoc Bao Huynh and Quang Nang Huynh.
He is survived by his five loving children and their families: Nga Huynh and Phung Nguyen; Yen Huynh and Son Le, and their daughter Lilian Le; Phung Morrison and John Morrison, and their children Daniel and Britta Morrison, Matthew and Taylor Morrison, and Joseph Morrison; Quyen Huynh and Tue Tran, and their children Vanessa Tran and Vincent Tran; and Hien Huynh and Chuc Luc, and their daughter Anna Huynh.
He is also lovingly remembered by his cherished bonus daughter, Loan Le and her family; his beloved godchildren, Nen and Diep and their children and grandchildren; and his beloved god grandchildren, Angie Nguyen, Lyn Nguyen, and Vivian Nguyen, all of whom held a special place in his heart. He is further survived by his brothers and sisters, many nieces and nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by his example of faith, kindness, wisdom, and love.
His family misses him deeply and will forever cherish his presence, wisdom, guidance, and prayers. Yet they find comfort in knowing that he now rests in the loving embrace of God, reunited with his beloved wife and sons. They take peace in believing that from his heavenly home he continues to watch over those he loved and intercede for them with the same faithful devotion that marked his earthly life.
The legacy of Francis Xavier Tien Quang Huynh lives on in the family he cherished, the sacrifices he made, the values he instilled, and the countless lives he touched through his faith, courage, and love.
