Christy Leigh Wingo
Jul 30, 1963 — May 20, 2026
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Christy Leigh Wingo, a beloved daughter, friend and bright light to her community. Christy left us way too soon on May 20, 2026. Born on July 30, 1963 in Roanoke, Virginia, Christy was a beacon of warmth and joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Christy was the cherished daughter of the late Leonard Wingo and Alice Mottesheard, and was lovingly raised by her mother and step-father Ralph, who also predeceased her. Christy's life was enriched by the enduring presence of her friends and family, including her dear friends Linda Miller and Faith Hoxworth, her loving aunts Pat Moneymaker and Ginny Schillen, and an expansive circle of friends who are too numerous to count.
Christy's professional journey was marked by her significant contribution to the field of health information management. Through her hard work and dedication as a Medical Coder, she eventually founded Wingo Coding, a company she proudly owned and operated until her retirement.
A proud member of Lady Owned Toyotas and The Ultimate Colorado Lesbian Adventure Tribe, Christy found joy and camaraderie in these communities. Her love for nature was evident in her frequent off roading adventures, the most recent, her dream trip to Moab, Utah where she proudly conquered Hell's Revenge. She loved to capture breathtaking sunsets with her iPhone and took endless delight in thrift shopping. Christy's heart was full of love for her family, dog(s) and horse(s). Above all, she cherished the time spent with her friends, often evoking laughter and happiness with her infectious sense of humor.
To attempt to capture Christy's essence is to describe a soul that was as radiant as it was kind. She possessed an endearing sense of humor that brightened the lives of those around her. Always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a comforting shoulder, Christy embodied the virtues of acceptance and forgiveness. Those who knew her, and even those who merely crossed her path, will deeply miss her warm presence and generous spirit.
In honor of Christy's love for animals, especially horses, donations can be made in her memory to the Colorado Horse Rescue Network (coloradohorserescuenetwork.com).
As we say farewell to Christy, let's celebrate a life that was vibrant, loving and truly unforgettable. Her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us, reminding us of the joy, laughter and love she so freely shared with us all. We are better for having known her.
