Darrell Edward Kobilan, 77, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on December 1, 2025, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Darrell was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on March 31, 1948, to parents Elvin and Juli (Dzuris) Kobilan. He was the oldest of two children.

Darrell graduated from General William Mitchell High School in 1966 and then went on to Southern Colorado State College in Pueblo, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education. After a brief tenure as a teacher, he decided to join the family business, Kobilan and Son’s Sprinkler Company. Following the sale of the family business, Darrell started his own irrigation business called The Water Company, which brought him both success and lasting relationships. His business reached every corner of town, and his work remains visible as a lasting part of his legacy.

Darrell found joy in staying busy and doing what he loved. From racing an open wheel stock car in the International Pikes Peak Hill Climb to building and flipping homes, he found purpose in both adventure and craftsmanship. He always took pride in a job well done, finding satisfaction in creating something lasting with his hands. Through the years he also enjoyed baseball, softball, golf, playing pool, fixing cars, elk hunting, old country music, traveling and helping others. Whatever he pursued, he did so with passion, skill and a genuine enjoyment of life. Darrell leaves behind many who loved him and he will be forever missed.

Darrell was preceded in death by both of his parents, Elvin and Juli Kobilan and well as his stepson, Douglas Powell. He is survived by his wife Debbie Kobilan; daughter Laura Kobilan; son D.J. Kobilan and spouse Mandy Kobilan; stepdaughter Stephanie Powell; step daughter-in-law Kim Powell; brother Errol Kobilan; nieces Amanda Kobilan-Amendt and Kirstie Beek; 7 grandchildren (Mitchell Blain, Cortland Kobilan, Hudson Kobilan, Dillon Powell, Morgan Parkison, Logan Bellerdine, Dom Bellerdine); four great-grandchildren (Greyson, Jackson, Emery, Elaya Powell) and his dog Bella.

A celebration of life is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Friday, January 9, 2026, at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 E. Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80909. We invite you to join us after the service for a reception at The Water Company, located at 2612 Platte Place, Colorado Springs, CO 80909.
