Frank Ernest Porter
Jun 19, 1936 — Oct 2, 2026
Frank Ernest Porter went home to be with his Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday October 2, 2026, in Manitou Springs, CO. He was 90 Years old.
Frank was born on Friday, June 19th, 1936, to Lewis & Maudie Porter in Wetmore, CO.
A lifelong Colorado native, Frank attended elementary schools in Ordway, Florence, Wetmore & Portland Colorado. He attended Florence High School until the 10th grade then moved to finish his high school education at Crowley County High School, graduating in 1955.
Frank was a true patriot & was very proud of his military service which started with the Navy Reserve (1952-1954). He then joined the Air Force (1955-1959). During his years in the Air Force, Frank was an aircraft electrician stationed in beautiful Hawaii, before Hawaii was officially a state!
After his military service, he relocated to Colorado Springs where he worked as a Lighting Specialist with Home Lighting for many years. He then started his next journey, literally, as a driver for Greyhound Bus Transportation. 40 years, millions of miles & many stories of adventure later, he hung up the bus keys & retired.
In 1975 Frank was introduced to Barbara Hudgins by his pastor. That introduction would lead to Frank and Barb tying the knot on July 5th, 1975, at Academy Baptist Church. Together they would embark on a lifelong mission of service to the Lord through different volunteering opportunities.
Frank and Barb joined a group called “Campers on Mission” in Colorado, as well as “Arizona Campers on Mission” which helped to finish churches with roofing, basements, libraries & many other needed tasks.
Frank and Barb also combined their love for sharing Jesus Christ & motorcycles when they joined CMA (Christian Motorcycle Association) in 2001. They shared many traveling adventures, making many lifelong friends, traversing the highways & byways spreading the good news of Jesus Christ. Frank continued to ride even up to August 2026!
Frank is survived by his loving & devoted wife of 47 years Barb Porter, sons Ricky & Darin Porter, daughter Becky Porter, foster daughters Deana Read & Nichole Dees, 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, a sister Bonnie Wadel & many nieces & nephews.
Frank is predeceased by his parents Lewis & Maudie, sisters Mary Ada Webb, Henrietta Johnson, son Timothy Porter, daughter-in-law Jackie Peterson Porter & son-in-law Dan Dees.
