James Donald Shumaker

James Donald Shumaker passed away on August 7th,2026, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born on July 31st, 1941, in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania to William and Evelyn Shumaker.

Jim graduated from St. Mary's High school in 1959 and went on to earn a master's degree from Northern Colorado University.

He worked as a history teacher for Lewis Palmer high school and was the head coach of the Lewis Palmer High Basketball team. In the fifteen seasons, the team had a 239-86 record with seven league championships. He enjoyed playing poker, trivia, fishing, and the Broncos.

Jim is preceded in death by his father, Bill, mother, Evelyn, and sister, Jeananne. He is survived by his wife, Michelle of Colorado Springs, CO, sons, Greg and Mike, 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
