Jerome James Washington
Jun 17, 1976 — Sep 14, 2026
Jerome James Washington was born 17 June 1976 and called to rest with our Lord and Savior on 14 September 2026. He was affectionately known to family as JJ. He is the youngest of two sons born to Carmen Washington and James Wright. They loved their son unconditionally. JJ had medical issues as a baby and toddler. He was also struck by a vehicle at a young age. In spite of his challenges, JJ stood up and lived his life. He looked up to his big brother, Kareem Washington and frequently tried to show his brother how strong he was by displaying his wrestling skills. He called himself putting the “Hammer” on his big brother Kareem. Rumor has it, in the last couple years he almost succeeded. It was all in good fun. JJ and Kareem weren’t just brothers, they were truly friends!
JJ was spirited and outgoing. He genuinely enjoyed spending time with family. There wasn’t a bar-b-que or get together at his mother’s house that didn’t bring Jerome back home to be with family. He had a great time with all of his cousins, aunts and uncles through a variety of events and adventures. He enjoyed a special adventure with several cousins to Elitch Gardens, that was memorable for all who attended. They all became their own special characters and super heroes. It was a GREAT time for all of them. In his younger years he spent quality time with his Grandfather on his grandfather’s boat. JJ and his cousin Jamaal learned to fish during these excursions. While JJ enjoyed boating and fishing, he had little patience for waiting on the fish to bite! He was frequently reeling in his line, looking for his catch. JJ was only interested in the fish who were ready to eat right then! He truly enjoyed family outings and celebrations; including the Christmas holidays with family and friends, hosted by his cousin. Family was important to JJ. He was intentional about showing up and even brought friends. JJ had a big personality, enjoyed people and colored outside the lines. While he found his own lifestyle and community of friends, he loved his family and his family loved him! He will be remembered for his laughter, enthusiasm and love of family time!
