Leonor Guerrero

Apr 21, 1945 — Feb 17, 2026

Leonor Guerrero, 80, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, died surrounded by family on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026. Leonor will always be remembered for her powerful and deep love for God and for her family, her unselfish and caring personality, and her incredible physical and mental strength in fighting off physical ailments almost her entire life. Leonor was a giver, a prayer warrior, and the most amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She was born in Bogota, Colombia, in 1945, to Nepo and Maria Rodriguez. She grew up in Bogota alongside her three sisters and one brother. She had a happy childhood where she learned early on about the importance of family and faith.

She met the love of her life, Carlos Guerrero, in 1964. They were married on February 5, 1966. They very recently celebrated 60 years of marital bliss. Her love for Carlos was so strong. She loved him dearly.

In July of 1968, Leonor and Carlos bravely made the life-changing decision to move to the United States from Colombia to raise their family. Not knowing English and with very little money, they moved to the amazing town of Oelwein, Iowa. The sweet and loving people of that community embraced Leonor, Carlos, and their young family and Oelwein quickly became home. She and Carlos raised their three children there. Leonor was very involved in the community and in the school system. She absolutely loved living in Oelwein and she adored her friends.

In 2007, she and Carlos moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado to be closer to her two youngest children. She treasured spending time with Carlos and all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was so proud of them.

Leonor was an avid sports fan. She loved watching her children and grandchildren play sports and she pulled hard for all of their colleges and universities.

Most importantly, Leonor loved the Lord with all of her heart and was looking forward to being reunited with all of her family but especially with her youngest son, Camilo.

Leonor was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Doris, her brother Alfonso, her son, Camilo, and her granddaughter, Camila.

She is survived by her husband, Carlos, her son Juan Carlos (Suzanne), her daughter Patricia (Kevin), her daughter-in-law, Jayne, her grandchildren, Stephen, Sam, Logan (Abby), Brooke, Chay, Theo, Adan, and her great grandchildren, Ayden, Beck, and Noah.
