Lisa Marie Dyer
Oct 28, 1960 — May 14, 2026
Lisa Marie Dyer, age 65, passed away peacefully in her home in Colorado Springs, CO, on May 14, 2026, after a courageous fight with cancer. She was surrounded by the abundant love of her family.
Born on October 28, 1960, in Los Angeles, California, to the late Jon and Marilyn Dyer, Lisa grew up as a military child, living across the country and even spending time abroad. After her father retired and settled in Colorado Springs, Lisa graduated from Mitchell High School. She went on to study to be a legal secretary at the United College of Business, earning her diploma in 1988 back in Los Angeles. While Lisa held various roles throughout her life, she spent the bulk of her career in Quality Assurance at Zurich Inc. There, she was deeply involved in her workplace community, participating in everything from Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives to knitting circles and a company book club.
Known for her vibrant, creative spirit, Lisa found immense joy in baking and knitting. Her family took great pride in her holiday traditions, most notably her construction of elaborate gingerbread houses. She poured her heart into baking holiday treats, knitting blankets, crafting beaded bracelets, and making delicate, lace-like shawls. She also knitted children's hats specifically for donation. An avid reader, she was rarely without one of the thousands of books she cherished.
Lisa was a kind, humanitarian soul who championed equality, understanding, and diversity both in the workspace and the wider world. She loved fiercely and possessed a rare flexibility, instinctively understanding what mattered most to the people around her and acting accordingly. Lisa showed up for everyone she cared about in the exact ways they needed it most. It was this selflessness that inspired such deep loyalty and adoration from those around her. No matter what challenges life threw her way, she overcame them with grace and admirable strength. A family could not have asked for a better mother, wife, and friend. Her loved ones take comfort in knowing that her spirit will continue to watch over them as an angel in their hearts and souls.
Lisa was preceded in death by her father, Jon Dyer; her mother, Marilyn Dyer; and her stepmother, Donna Dyer.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Jim Heaver; her brothers, Michael Dyer and Mark Dyer, who passed away just four days after Lisa; her five children, Darrel Dyer, Jonathan Dyer, Sarah Heaver, Steven Heaver, and Daniel Heaver; her granddaughter, Luna Heaver; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Her legacy of love and creativity will live on eternally in them.
Memorial services will be held on July 8, 2026, at 11:00 AM at The Springs Funeral Home, 3115 E. Platte Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80909.
