Mary Alice Christiansen

Mary Alice (Olivier) Christiansen, 83, of Colorado Springs, Colorado entered into eternal rest Sunday, June 28, 2026. She was born on February 20, 1943 to Wilkinson L. and Martha (Braquet) Olivier in Loreauville, Louisiana. Mary went to high school at New Iberia Senior High and graduated in 1961.

Mary met her beloved JD (Chris) Christiansen in New Iberia while he was serving in the U.S. Navy. They wed on May 21, 1961, moved to his home state of Colorado and they began their life of ranching and raising a family. We are certain Mary didn’t know what she was signing up for in marrying a lifelong cowboy and leaving the city life, but we are very certain that she met the adventures, challenges, rewards and joys of their new life through her trust in the Lord, and her love and trust in JD. Their love was and is eternal.

While continuing her life as a mother and rancher’s wife, Mary went to work for Walter Drake catalog in 1978 in the silver and purchasing department and continued through 2003. In 2005 she went to work joining Colorado College in Colorado Springs in the purchasing department. She was loved by many students and colleagues alike, excelling to her retirement in 2015 at the age of 72.

JD preceded Mary in death on July 24, 1998. She is survived by her three children and their spouses; daughters Tammy (Jeffrey) Specht and Gail (Terry) Henderson, a son James (Melanie) Christiansen, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings George Olivier and Rosa Maynard of New Iberia, Louisiana.

A private inurnment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery at a future date.
