Theo Marie Sherman

Theo Marie Sherman passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026, at home with her family in Falcon, Colorado. 

Theo almost made it to 100. She was born in September 1926 to Axel T. Hemmingsen and Bess Saviah (Point) Hemmingsen on a farm near Newell, Iowa. 

While working as a nanny in California, she met Sherod Wayne George. They were married in 1946 before moving back to Iowa, where they had three children—Marcia, Wayne, and Nancy—while living in Newell, Fonda, and Storm Lake. 

After Sherod’s death, Theo married Loren Sherman in 1975 and resided in Alta until his death in 1990. Theo then moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she entered the real-estate business, retiring a few years later. 

Upon retiring, she purchased an RV and began traveling the country, seeing family and friends. Along those travels she met a wonderful man, Harris Brown of Austin, Minnesota, with whom she shared many wonderful years traveling throughout the United States and Canada before settling in Apache Junction, Arizona, for the last 20+ years of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Sherod and Loren; sister Zelda; brother Don; son Wayne; and bonus son Doug Sherman. 

Left to celebrate her life are Harris Brown and his family; daughters Marcia Hutson and Nancy George (Michael McGee); bonus son John Sherman; grandchildren Tara Hutson Redford, Todd Hutson, Jason Frederick, and Shannon Chavarry and their spouses; great-grandchild Cam; along with bonus grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of friends.
