Vernon Howard Clark

With a life marked by passion, dedication, and a deep love for his family, Vernon Howard Clark, 88, passed away peacefully at home on July 15, 2026, after a brief illness. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of hard work, cherished memories, and a lifelong enthusiasm for the things he loved most.

Vernon was born on February 6, 1938, to Ervin E. Clark and Maude Thelma (Lehr) Clark.

He is lovingly, remembered by his devoted wife, Barbara; his brother, William (Bill) Clark (Barbara), his children, Steve (Heidi) Clark, Sue (Doug) Baker, Michelle (Frank) Cowgill, and Mike (Amy) Bowers; and his cherished grandchildren, Megan (Luke), Zac, Brooke (Lina), Gage, Holly, Shelby, Tyler, Issac, and Hudson.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Gerri Ann Atkinson, his brother, Les Clark, and his sister, Barbara Johnson.

A graduate of Colorado Springs High School, Vernon built a successful career as an architect and builder before becoming the owner of Rocky Mountain Cycle Plaza, where he dedicated 51 years of service. He retired in March 2026, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, integrity, and commitment.

Vernon had a lifelong passion for racing and automobiles. Whether he was at the track, talking cars, or following the latest race, motorsports were more than a hobby—they were his life’s passion. His enthusiasm was contagious, and he found great joy in sharing that passion with family, friends, and fellow racing enthusiasts.

Above all, Vernon will be remembered for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and the love he had for his family. His presence, wisdom, and unwavering dedication will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be on Thursday July 23rd 5PM - 7PM at The Springs Funeral Services:

In accordance with Vernon’s wishes, the family will hold a private Celebration of Life at a later date.

Though he is no longer with us, the memories he created and the legacy he leaves behind will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
