It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Victoria Ann Maykowski on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at The Gardens at ViewPointe in Colorado Springs. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and sister. She had been a resident in the area since 1970.
Victoria Ann Maykowski was born on December 16, 1938 in Sharon, Pennsylvania to Victor and Eva Paulenich (Skourn). She grew up in Hickory, PA and graduated from Hickory High School. She then attended nursing school at St. Vincent's Hospital in Erie, PA.
Vicki married Leonard Michael Maykowski on February 10, 1962 at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Sharon. Len and Vicki spent a majority of their married lives together in Colorado. Vicki worked in a variety of nursing specialties and as a director of nursing and nurse educator at various institutions around the state. She was a member of St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church in Colorado Springs volunteering as a member of the Daughters of Mary. She was a woman of incredible generosity and faith.
Vicki’s vocation in life was caring for others. As a nurse, friend and family member, her compassion and humor always led the way. Quick to laugh and full of fun, she enjoyed music and theatre, gardening, cooking and baking, and sending greeting cards to those she loved. She was an avid fan of many sports, with college basketball being a favorite.
Vicki was preceded in death by her husband Leonard. She is survived by her children, Elaine Maykowski of Colorado Springs, Tom (June) Maykowski of Castle Rock, Colorado, Mark Maykowski of Parker, Colorado and Julie Maykowski of Phippsburg, Colorado. She is also survived by her brother, Dennis Paulenich of Ruckersville, Virginia. Vicki has five grandchildren, one great-grandson, and eight nieces and nephews.
Vigil and Rosary, 6:00 pm, Sunday, December 14, 2025 at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, 8755 Scarborough Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80920.
Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 am, Monday, December 15, 2025, also at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church.
Private inurnment is planned for Mount St. Francis Columbarium.
Donations can be made to St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church for masses in Vicki’s name.
Vicki will be best remembered for her ability to make a heartfelt connection with every person she met and to make them feel valued and special. She will be dearly missed.
