Wesley Hal Gammill, age 82 passed away at his home on December 7, 2025, with his wife by his side. Wes was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer 12/9/24 while on vacation on the Oregon Coast. The oncologist informed us with or without treatment his life expectancy was only 8-11 months. Wes underwent 6 cancer treatments. He then decided instead of physically feeling terrible he would rather enjoy the time he had left with his wife, family and friends. 

Wes was born in Hutchinson Kansas, the eldest of 2 boys to Hal Wright Gammill and Elinor Maxine Willits Gammill. The family left Kansas and moved to Monte Vista Colorado where his father was born. As a young child the family moved to Ponca City Oklahoma where his mother was born. In the summer 1957 the family moved to Colorado Springs permanently.  

Wes started 8th grade and his brother started 5th grade. The sons spent summers working on their grandparents’ farm outside of Monte Vista. 

Wes graduated from Harrison High School in 1962. He was in the wrestling, Science and Rodeo club. After graduation he worked for a year with the Forest service. In December 1963 he enlisted in the Air Force. Wes' initial tour was in Ohio. In his time off, he worked in a small traveling rodeo and did some bull riding. His last year of service he was stationed in Thailand where he worked as a plane technician on C 130’s during the Vietnam war.

Wes was married twice, 22 years to his first wife with one daughter. He was married to his second wife for 26 years.

In June of 1968 Wes started an apprenticeship with the Plumbers and Pipefitters union local 58. He enjoyed his trade, made many long-lasting friendships and retired at 60.

Wes was a quiet, stoic, healthy, strong man. A very non-judgmental, accepting man. Wes had an amazing view on life. He loved the Mountains, outdoors, nature and animals. He spent as much time as possible outdoors, fishing, boating, hiking, camping, hunting, snow shoeing, and exploring. He loved his horses and dogs. All animals loved him and were drawn to his gentle soul. He had great respect for nature where he felt the connection and oneness of all. He volunteered for Colorado Parks and Wildlife for 20 years to give back as much as he could.

Wes was very creative, enjoyed photography, flinting obsidian, and was a master of carpentry. He had strong interest in learning about different cultures and traditions, especially indigenous Natives. 

He is survived by his loving wife Linda German, brother Jerry Gammill, his step son Sean Jordan , and his step family Al, Rhonda, Evan and Connor Wigglesworth. 

He will be missed by many as he was a truly wonderful man.
