Dwight Hurd
May 15, 1949 — Mar 30, 2026
Dwight Dee Hurd, 76 years old, passed away on March 30, 2026, in Weiser, Idaho. He was born May 15, 1949, in Ontario, Oregon to W.D. and Edna Hurd. He married his high school sweetheart, Therese Wander, on January 25, 1969.
Dwight had a quiet presence, the kind that didn’t demand attention, but earned respect and left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Hunting, camping, and horseback riding through the mountains weren’t just things he enjoyed – they were part of who he was. Out there, he was at home. Although confident in solitude in the outdoors, he enjoyed sharing his passion for hunting, horses, and the outdoors with others. He loved riding horses through the mountains – never relying on trails to find his own way.
Dwight enjoyed training and working with his hunting dogs. Whether hunting grouse in the mountains, pheasants in the field, or ducks and geese by the river, he was always so proud of his dogs.
Dwight also knew the joy of a different kind of field – the golf course, the softball diamond, or a table surrounded by friends and family with a deck of cards in hand. Whether he was swinging a club, stepping up to the plate, or quietly holding a winning hand, he brought the same steady presence and quiet confidence. He didn’t need to be the loudest person in the room to be felt – he simply showed up, and that was enough.
Dwight is survived by his wife, Therese Hurd; his children Lori (Jon) Hunter and Brenda (Scott) Crimin; his grandchildren Jessica Hunter, Katie (Tyler) O’Donnell, Kyle Crimin and Bryce Crimin; Sister, Teresa (Scott) Mansor, Brothers, Budd (Lori) Hurd and Monte (Kris) Hurd, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, W.D. and Edna Hurd and sisters Diann Haynes and Darla Whiting.
A celebration of life honoring Dwight will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026 at 11:00 am at Rolling Hills Golf Course in Weiser.
