Frances "Fran" Louise Smith

Frances “Fran” Louise Smith was Born April 15, 1942 to Ethel and Walter Rowoldt in Chicago, Illinois. Fran passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 22, 2026 at the age of 84.

Fran married Don Smith in 1963. She brought her two young sons, Carl and John, into the marriage and they had a daughter, Donna, which completed their family. With Don being in the Army they began their life in Germany before settling in California. Later, Don’s police career brought them to Weiser, ID. The family enjoyed traveling together. While in Germany they traveled in their VW Bus to Italy and then brought the VW Bus to the US and camped on many family trips including the Grand Canyon, Death Valley and Oklahoma. After several years together Don and Fran chose to go their separate ways. Fran later met Don Maynard and spent many happy years together attending rodeo’s and camping at Dixie, Idaho where Don was from. They loved going to Bandon and Florence at the Oregon coast and spending time together.

Fran was a gifted artist who loved to paint and she was a very talented Interior Decorator. She and a friend opened a florist shop, The Flower Basket, in Weiser and later she had her own Floral Business from home. Fran never slowed down, she sold dried flower arrangements, she was a Lifeguard and Swim Teacher and a friend to everyone she met. She loved telling stories and making others laugh. Fran’s greatest joy was spending time with her family at Birthdays, Holidays and Sporting events. She was so proud of her family.

Fran was preceded in death by her Parents, her partner Don Maynard and a grandson Jonathon Smith. She was survived by her three children, Carl (ReNae) Smith, John (Yvonne) Smith, and Donna (Rich) Shauerman and her grandchildren Jacob, Curtis, Calvin, Carl, Ryan, Morgan and Jacen and her great-grandchildren Carter, Makenzie, Kayedence, Emily, Ariel, Delilah, Whitney, Sitka and Brynlee.

Fran will be forever missed
