John James Gage

John James Gage, 63, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026. He was born on September 25, 1962, in San Jose, California, to Guy and Janice Gage. John was raised in Santa Clara, California, until his junior year of high school, when he moved to Boise, Idaho. He graduated from Borah High School and went on to attend Boise State University from 1980 to 1982, where he earned an associate degree in machining. John began his career working alongside his father, Guy Gage, as a machinist at Santa Clara Machining. He later continued his career at Northwest Machining and Manufacturing, where he worked his way up to become the lead supervisor of the production floor. He eventually retired from there. John was an avid outdoorsman and found some of his greatest happiness in the mountains, on the water, and in the wild places he loved. He enjoyed hunting deer and elk on what he affectionately referred to as “No Tell ’Em Ridge,” as well as hunting ducks and geese on “No Tell ’Em Creek.” He also had a deep passion for fishing, competing in local bass fishing tournaments and salmon fishing throughout the wilds of Idaho. Whether hunting, fishing, or simply enjoying the outdoors, John cherished the time he spent doing what he loved with family and friends. John is survived by his father and stepmother, Guy and Sandy Gage; his sister, Cindy, and her husband, Tom Koslosky; his niece, Lindsay, and her husband, Nick Kons, and their children, Alli and Parker; his nephew, Mitch Koslosky, and his wife, Amanda, and their children, Gavin and Hailey; his brother-in-law, Fred Ossenbeck; his nephew, Austin, and his daughter, Alivia; his niece, Ashley, and her husband, Seth Lenaerts, and their daughter, Cordelia; his aunt, Vicki, and her husband, Chuck Flinn, along with their two daughters, Stacie and Tammie.He is also survived by his stepsister, Kenet, and her husband, Fred Haun; his nephew, Brent, and his wife, Calli, and their sons, Brexon, Taven, and Kasen; his niece, Laura, her husband, John McDonald, and their daughter, Ellie; his stepbrother, Jamie Wilson, and his wife, Karen; their daughter, Anna, and her husband, Paul Jantzi; and Penny Tardiff, along with her sons, Levi Tardiff and his wife, Jess, and their son, Thomas; and Joey Tardiff and his wife, Tia.John was preceded in death by his mother, Janice Gage; his sister, Debbie Ossenbeck; and his brother, Bill Gage. John will be remembered for his dedication to his work, his independent spirit, his love of the outdoors, and the many memories he created with those who knew and loved him. He leaves behind a lifetime of stories, adventures, laughter, and treasured memories that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Though he may no longer be walking the mountains, casting a line, or sharing stories around a camp, the places he loved and the memories he made will forever be a part of the lives of those who knew him. John will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
